Cloudy Saturday Morning...

...but according to my trusty weather app, the sun will break through starting around 3 p.m., just in time for Peter and Claire's wedding.

The kids are sleeping in here in our rental unit. I'm drinking coffee, sorting photos, and soon will read the New York Times and Washington Post online. a daily ritual.

Here are some photos of the place where we're staying:

Partiers

On a beautiful evening here in Seattle, a large number of the guests for Peter and Claire's wedding tomorrow gathered at a lovely beach park not far from here. The kids and grandkids and Peter's high school friends and Claire's relatives and friends partied for hours on the edge of Puget Sound.

Aidan, Dylan, Julia and Zaira spent some exceptionally active time on the beach building a sand castle and covering one another (the little ones) with sand.

Tomorrow are the big events -- the wedding and the reception!

Touring U-W

I took my first Uber and Lyft rides today -- the traffic in Seattle is too heavy and confusing, even with GPS, to hazard. Julia is applying to the University of Washington, so we signed up for a tour. Zaira came with us.

It's a beautiful place I've visited before but this was their first time. A highlight is the Graduate Library, an enormous hall with a enormous ceiling and stained-glass windows all around. The campus also is green and shady and huge.

Sleeping in Seattle

Aidan, Zaira, Dylan, Julia and I flew up here this afternoon, drove to our rental unit, which we love, in the northern end of the city, ate at a nearby Mexican restaurant, bought some groceries at a nearby store, and settled in for the night.

We were wowed by Mt. Ranier and the Space Needle, the pro sports stadiums, and the architecture of the city generally. It's beautiful summer weather right now and Seattle is green.

The kids really like the unit I rented via VRBO, an Airbnb-type service. It is clean and has the amenities we need. It is in a busy residential-commercial neighborhood and apparently not far from the wedding venue.

Tomorrow, Julia and I will visit the Unversity of Washington.
