Breaking News

Today, when Congressman Adam Schiff arrived at the Green Room, I asked him what his reaction was to the North Korea news. (President Trump had tweeted that he was rolling back the sanctions his Treasury Secretaory had announced just yesterday.) He said he hadn't heard anything yet, so...

I got him the New York Times story about this and he just shook his head as he read it.

Once on the set of Newsroom, host Thuy Vu asked him about this development and he labeled Trump's action "dangerous derangement." I knew instantly we had a news break so I informed the radio staff and they integrated tape of him saying that into our newscasts. Let's see if it goes viral.

Later in the day, of course, this news was overwhelmed by the news that the Mueller Report is complete.

Walkin' in Memphis

Fifty-one years after I was there, mY youngest is spending her spring break in Memphis. She sent me this photo yesterday of the entrance to Beale Street, home of the blues.

I have so many bittersweet memories of Memphis, having been there during the the last demonstration Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., ever led, before he returned there a week later and was assassinated.

But it's always been a great town, filled with fine people, great music, and of course, the blues.

I hope she is enjoying her visit.

Getting Rid of Stuff

My son Peter has been helping clean up this apartment and whenever I say "throw it all away," he says, "Let's take the time to sort through these."

Files, videos, CDs, DVDs, books. I suppose some of this stuff may have value -- at least for my memoir.

But my instinct is just to shed everything. Next we will clear my bedroom, which is cluttered with books, files, clothes, shoes, and junk.
