Sushi

My wonderful friend Tomoko, who stops by for tea about once a month, today brought me a tray of Nigiri Sushi -- delicious!

Tomoko, her husband, Nobu, and daughter, Reina, live in San Mateo. She drives up here on Saturdays to take Reina to Japanese lessons. She says Reina is getting quite good.

Anyone who knows me knows I love languages. I believe they don't really translate, so every language is a rainbow of expression on its own.

Laila says Sophia read a kids' recipe in French today and made some muffins! She says they are delicious...

Friday Night!

I've worked the past three days, taking Lyft or taxis back and forth. It's been great to connect with some of my many friends at KQED. By mid-afternoon each day, I have felt exhausted and so have left.

Yesterday when my cab driver dropped me off, he pointed out that the fare was only $4. He turned the meter off and said, "It's okay. This one is on me."

My Daughter's Book

It's terrific and for a limited time free. Then I think it will be $0.99.

The big storm hit. I took Lyft to and from work today for a total of $21.40.

Family Matters

My three sisters are visiting this weekend and it is so wonderful seeing them.

Yesterday, on the way to meet them at El Matate, I took a fall on 22nd Street against a tree.

My right hand had three cuts. As I was lying there at the base of the tree, a young woman stopped to help me. She wasn't strong enough to pull me up so she asked a young man to help. He noticed the bleeding and brought me bandaids from his home nearby.

The woman helped me get to El Matate, where my sisters and I had a lovely meal.

There is so much kindness left in this world.
