Global Dumping Ground

That project was one of CIR's greatest successes, especially the Frontline documentary.

But very few people know how it started. I was giving a speech about the Circle of Poison, I think in Northe Carolina.

A state government official came up to me and whispered in my ear, "There's something else you should know."

Youthful Idealism

Today on KQED Newsroom, we had a 17-year-old guest, Sophie Foster, from a Bay Area high school. She said she wants to major in political science when she goes to college and to run for president someday. We had lots of other great guests also, but Sophie stole the show. her dad came with her to KQED. it was her first time on tv.

it was cold and blustery here today. But clear and sunny at the same time.

I am so glad it is the weekend. These work weeks feel like marathons to me.

Pink plum blossoms are everywhere in SF.

Wednesday Update

it was raining this morning so I tool a cab to work. My old friend/journalist Lowell Bergman stopped by to check up on me and meet with our investigative team looking into police misconduct cases.

This is a huge project.

I also had a smattering of other meetings.

Many people at work say they like my look much better with short hair and no beard. (Thanks Laila and Peter!

During this period I have been learning a new lesson -- ask for help when you need it. These days I definitely need it.

And I am getting it, from many quarters.

Tuesday News

Walked to and from work in a light rain. No problem; wore a baseball cap and used my cane. Had a midday call with a startup in Chicago; it looks promising they might become my client. Also talked to my stock broker about how to consolidate my retirement accounts.

Lots of details and paperwork!

I want to continue blogging lightly as long as I can. It's become sort of a daily journal. The archive since 2006 also is available for readers to sort through.

We are back!

That did not last long. I have restored this blog. I guess I missed it too much. Today Laila and Daisy came by KQED to help me with my will and to have lunch. Everyone was enchanted by my grand-daughter!
