Weekend Visit

Today, Peter, Claire and Bettina paid a visit and we sat in the backyard. I could hear the distant train whistles and feel the sun. Bettina can pull herself up and is close to walking -- at eight and a half months.

Peter and Aidan are planning to clear out my cluttered bedroom tomorrow morning. Then, the cleaners are due Tuesday.

The home care team paid its first visit today -- a burse who took my vitals (all fine).

Laila and family are preparing for their five-month trip to France, which begins next month.

Writing and Editing

With Laila's help, I've been struggling with formatting to rough out a draft memoir, currently at 32,000 words.

I'm also trying to get KQED to outline the terms of my severance.

Although writing my memoir is something I've long looked forward to, retiring on half of what I expected is a blow. it looks like I'll end up alone in my flat, trying to write a book few may read, wth not enough money to live on for long.

I don't want a dreary ending but I see few alternatives now.

Screen Time

This afternoon, two grandsons and two friends enjoy a video game.

One step forward, one back.

Took my first fall in almost a month, getting out of the car on a slanted driveway. I tried to grab the front door as I fell but couldn't. Stumbled backward before falling on my back on a patch of grass, Didn't hit my head.

Little League Baseball

Went to see the El Cerrito Tigres play an all-star team in Piedmont late yesterday. This the first of my grandson Luca's games I've attended. but there was an added bonus: His cousin James was allowed to play on the Tigres also

The Tigres' uniforms are party modeled on my boyhood favorites, the Detroit Tigers.

Both Luca and James got to pitch in the game, besides hit and field. The excelled in all three categories.

Where we sat, behind the fence, we had a good view of the pitcher and the hitter. I realized afterward it was the first baseball game of any kind I've seen in a long time.

Interim Stage

Staying in Ell Cerrito for a few days. It took more out of me to leave than I expected. I'll get to my own place soon enough.

Home Soon

The medical staff and I are shooting for me to go home tomorrow. The doctor wants me to be evaluated one more tome by P-T.

Can't wait.
