So far over a million citizens have voted in this year’s midterm elections, with Election Day still a month away.

Polls indicate that surprisingly Democratic candidates for the U.S. Senate have pulled even or just ahead of Republicans in the red states of Texas, Alaska, Kansas, Iowa and Ohio.

This means that if the polls prove to be accurate, Democrats could take control of the Senate. They are broadly expected to easily win the House, where all 435 seats are up for grabs.

The top issue in the election appears to be the cost of living, which Trump promised to bring down in his 2024 victory over Kamala Harris. But prices remain high, partly due to Trump’s war on Iran.
