Forever Old Or Young

Today is not only a new day for me but an old one. At least it feels that way, reaching the odd milestone of three-quarters of a century.

If the past year has taught me anything the previous 74 did not, it is that time isn’t going to slow down at this point. So I better make of the most of it.

Time has its own purpose, which is to pass. And of course we all will too. But the good news is we haven’t yet.

I’m grateful for my family and the great many friends who have been in contact over the past year — old friends and new ones as well.

As for wisdom at this juncture, I’m not sure I have any beyond the cliche about living in the moment, even though I’ve never been completely sure what that means. Then again, it’s apparently better than any of the known alternatives.

TODAY’s LYRICS (Thanks to my friend Mary):

“Forever Young”

By Bob Dylan

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
May you stay forever young

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the light surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
May you stay forever young

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
May your song always be sung
And may you stay forever young
May you stay forever young
