Safeguarding 2024

Now that the outcome of the midterm elections is known and the Democrats have won the Senate, the question becomes what will happen next? We’ll probably have a divided Congress, with neither party in full control and a moderate president who has always tended toward compromise rather than confrontation.

Therefore, the opportunity now exists for Congress to act to strengthen the integrity of the electoral voting process by changing the law that Trump seized upon to wreak havoc in 2020. See: There’s a Lot Congress Can Do Now, and It Starts With Changing a Law That Trump Exploited.

The main hope is that enough mainstream Republicans will join with independents and Democrats to reduce the possibility election-deniers can again disrupt the process in 2024 like they did in 2020.

This will be complicated due to the large number of election-deniers who did win seats in the House. But even they must realize that nationally support for Trump is finally dissipating.

The good news is that Trump is wounded; it is the responsibility of people of good faith to ensure that those wounds prove to be fatal.
