Family Day

My sisters, Nancy, Kathy and Carole, are in town and we have been catching up on family news, recalling the past, and enjoying great San Francisco food -- Indian, Chinese and Mexican so far. We've also seen some of the kids but today everyone who is local is expected to come by. I think the get together may reach 19 people!

That is a big number for this small flat but the good news is it is a sunny day. So the little kids can play in the back yard...

President's Day

My three sisters are coming out to visit next weekend and it will be the first time all four of us siblings get together sin many years.

This holiday honors Presidents Washington and Lincoln. Unfortunately the present occupant of the White House is a joke -- a dangerous joke. Virtually everything that comes out of his mouth is trash.

Working on taxes yesterday with my ex-wife, I said I expect Trump to be impeached. I don't know if I actually believe that or am just hoping, but we need a leadership change for this country to regain its balance.

Having a madman at the helm is hurting us in a thousand ways.

What Is Needed Now

Angry white people have elected a horrible president. They didn't have to. They could have made a wiser choice. But we are now stuck in a very dangerous situation.

One of our reporters at KQED is in fact the first journalist to be issued a subpoena demanding that he reveal his sources by the Trump justice department. He will not reveal his sources, because that is our code and our promise. You tell us what you know and we protect you in return. He may go to jail as a result.

Now is the time for people of conscience to act. We have Congress (thank you John McCain and Lindsey Graham); we have the courts; and we have the press, which our so-called president has called the enemy of the people.

Make no mistake about it. America's democracy is at serious risk.

Birthday Dinner

Last night, we gathered in Glen Park for Claire's 30th birthday party. The little boys were excited to examine and trade for each other's Pokemon cards. I gave them some of their first ones, from Aidan and Dylan's collections.

It is nice for me to be present when three generations of the Weir family gather!
